Abstract

Are There Still Inequalities Amongst Blacks and Women in the United States of America?

The purpose of this research is to look through the eyes and experiences of Blacks and Women living in the United States of America. I will examine primary sources, secondary sources, some case laws, movies, speeches, and class discussions of Blacks and Women. There will be two phases.

The first phase: I will explore Jim Crow Laws: “Separate, but Equal”; Slave Codes: see how Blacks were considered property and not an USA citizen; Frederick Douglass: 4th of July Speech – the meaning of the 4th of July for a Negro; Missouri Compromise: Dred Scott v. Sanford – it was constitutional for a Blacks to have no rights; To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee: the character, Tom Robinson, was falsely charged for raping a white woman; 1964 Mississippi Burning Trial, Freedom Summer: Three Civil Rights Activists encouraged Black Mississippians to register to vote and they were brutally murdered.

The second phase: I will go into The Sexual Revolution: see how it challenged traditional codes; The Sexual Assault of Women: sexual harassment in the workplace; and The Unequal Pay of Women: from the earlier years to most recently of why four Republican Women in congress did not support the Paycheck Fairness Act.

Many Blacks and Women may uphold that the above issues still exists in the twentieth-first century.

The result is to give rise to the injustices and challenge you to demand equal rights and treatment for Blacks and Women.
