I had the best time in creating the ‘Personal Flag’ project below because it allowed for me to explore my individuality and employ the different techniques and elements I came to learn throughout this semester.

Many different elements were used in the making of this project. They included space, value, and line considerations. I wanted to make the gray appear aesthetically pleasing on top of the black in correlation with the two different shades of golden close-by. Having some minimal knowledge from previous assignments helped in learning to do some of the more tricky parts for someone completely new to Adobe Illustrator.

My concept  behind creating the image is a theoretical representation of myself. The golden and blue flames represent my inner feelings/thoughts and the amount of it which reaches the surface. The manipulation of a bird flying in a lighter shade of gray is the fleeting and soaring feeling I often get. Much more can be said about the image that I have created but I will leave it to this point so that your imagination can take effect.

This project gave a lot of perspective to me as an individual. I was fully enthusiastic throughout each step needed for the project. The process was interesting along with the concept. I was able to choose a subject I cared about on a personal level and bring it to life.

The transformation, thereafter, from the life form to something abstract which only you will be able to pinpoint, was something I felt for. This project required a bit of research on a subject and its uniqueness in trying to bring it to life and that may have been the most challenging part.

I was interested in creating a mixture of complementary colors for this project. It proved to be challenging yet fun in trying to emphasize specific portions of the image. Depending on the shade of the color, different opacity levels proved to be unpleasant to the eye.

A lot of trial and error created the image below. I enjoyed using Adobe Illustrator for the first time and am semi-pleased with the outcome! I feel as though that level of contentment is hard to gain in regards to someone’s own work.

The colors are very unique to my individuality also. I felt a sense of peace while working on the project with these colors (also due to their opacity level).
