Orientation Day, #1

We received orientation on my first day which we had to introduce ourselves to a small start-up company. They’re mainly located in the New Jersey Area but have employees from different time zones. The company specialized in marketplace technology and has partnered with NBA, NFL, and MLB teams to market and sell their collectibles to fans. The target audiences consist of die-hard fans, crypto enthusiasts, and memorabilia collectors within the sports industry.

Currently, I’m working in the graphic design department. I was nervous at first as I was tasked with an urgent project. I misunderstood the goal and tried to recreate the design from scratch. They only needed to mask an athlete and place a title frame on top. I stop at the beginning to turn in the assignment which they seem impressed by the speed and visuals. My supervisor, afterward, gave me another task where I would plugin images into an app template.

The App template belongs to the company as it usually consists of 5-8 pages. However, the supervisor does expect me to research the team or athlete achievements and awards. The sport highlights matter in the body copy and the subject of each image. Also, I would go into the client’s app and screenshot pages to use them for ad placeholders. They are then turned into interactive PSD mockups like editable text and given a phone background. The company so far seems greats to gain the experience needed to improve as a designer and a joy to converse with the employees.
