Reflection #2

Read the following quote by Dr. Pamela Brown, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs:

Learning is a source of hope for a better future. It requires hard work and sacrifice which can be even more difficult in challenging times. Your time in college is also your opportunity to connect with others, lift your spirit, enrich your life, and develop the skills and knowledge to make a difference in your community.

The life experiences that have best prepared me for college would be high school. High school taught me that exceeding expectations would allow me to be more successful. Also previous teachers in high school helped us to prepare ourselves for a college life.

The life experience that have prepared me for college is high school. During my time at high school I would usually feel like I’m behind everyone else and being able to focus more and learn more about a specific subject using the internet has really helped me improve as a student. I would create positive academic habits by trying new things that could help me improve more as a student and not worrying about not getting it in the first try.

The life experiences that have prepared me for college would be high school, particularly Advanced Placement (AP) clases. Through high school I still remember how every single teacher would constantly remind us of how different college is and the demands that go with it. I’m thankful to those teachers who constantly gave me advice of dos and don’ts that will help me navigate myself throughout college.

A life experience that has prepared me for college would definitely be my high school experience. Not for one being the one of the steps I needed to pass to get to the long term goal of being successful with a career, but also gave me a foundation to grow what I know. During high school I’ve had mentors such as teachers and other students who helped me guided me through high school and shown me that everything I do I have to do my best.

I can create a positive academic habits for myself by being more organized. Organization can help me stay on top of my due dates while also helping me clear my space making my mind more calm. I can also be more socially open by introduce myself to my professor and being able to ask for help when needed. Making connections with my peers can also lead me to opportunities to work together, which can help me succeed academically.

Growing up, I learned to manage my time between school, family responsibilities, and personal interests. Experiences like working on group projects, taking leadership roles in school activities, and handling challenging classes have helped me develop discipline, teamwork skills, and resilience all of which will help me succeed in college.

I think the experience that really prepared me for college would be high school, especially junior and senior year. These years I had so much on my plate and had to make sure that i was on track and was doing everything i could to make sure that i could achieve my goal of becoming a rad tech. During senior year i had to do a lot of things myself and it helped me realize that this is what i would have to do for the rest of my life, and that i wouldn’t really have anyone reminding me of what i had to do or what i was missing. If i needed help i had to go ask for it, rather than just immediately expecting to be guided by my teachers or guidance counselor.

In my point of view, I think the best experience that prepared me for college would be high school since here I learned speak and write in English and I got really good teachers that supported me to improve myself. The way I face any difficult situation I like to take a rest and talk with somebody about this problem, in this way, possible solutions come to my head.

    • What life experiences have prepared me for college?

The best life experience I can say that I had that prepared me for college was 100 percent high school. When I went to high school it was a great time with the people around me yes but it taught me that you need help when it comes to life and work. It also taught me to not be afraid to talk to or about my problems to the people that I loved. Academically though, high school helped me be on time with certain assignments and make sure I actually do them right.
