Fall 2017 | Professor Kate Poirier

# Month: November 2017

Webwork:

• TrigEquations due Monday
• LawOfSines & LawOfCosines due Wednesday

Test #3 will be given in class next Thursday, December 7. It will cover all of the trigonometry topics from session 18-25

Here‘s a link to the trigonometric equations worksheet from today’s class.

• Next Tuesday follows a Friday schedule, so I won’t see you then.
• Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, so I won’t see you then.
• Webwork GraphingSineCosine due 11/27
• The next time I see you is 11/28
• Your next quiz will be on 11/30 on sections 4.1/4.2/1.4/5.1 (probably 4.1/4.2)
• We’re about half-way through sections 1.4/5.1 (Trigonometric Identites). There is no Webwork set associated with this lesson. We’ll go over a few examples after the break but you can get a jump by looking at the homework from the text and #10 on the final exam review sheet.
• Today was session 23. The final exam is session 30 (December 19). Now is a good time to start reviewing material that has already been covered to prepare for the final exam. There’ll be less time after the break and before the final exam than you might think!
• Happy Thanksgiving!

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Grades for Test #2 have been added to Blackboard’s gradebook. Your tests (as well as quizzes #5 and #6) will be returned in class on Tuesday.

• Midterm Quiz Average
• Midterm Webwork Average
• Midterm Participation

These grades are just to give you a sense of how you are doing in the course up until this point. The participation grade is simply a rough estimate based on your participation in class an in office hours. Your midterm grade appears both as a percent grade and as a code; the code is reported to the college:

• P = passing/satisfactory
• U = not passing/unsatisfactory
• BL = borderline/close to 60%

Midterm grades and end-of-semester grades are usually pretty close. If your midterm grade is lower than the grade you want in this course, we can discuss what you might need to do to improve it. There are a handful of quizzes and Webwork sets remaining, though the third in-class test and final exam count for more of your grade. Remember, you can always check the grading scheme here.

The last day to withdraw from the course is this Friday, November 10.

Reminder: your next Webwork sets are due on Monday and Wednesday:

• SpecialTriangles due 11/06/2017
• TrigonometryRatios due 11/06/2017
• SolvingRightTriangles 11/08/2017
• SolvingRightTriangles-InverseTrig due 11/08/2017

Quiz #7 will be given in class next Thursday, November 9. It will cover the following sections of the trigonometry textbook: 1.1, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3.
