About Me

My name is Pierre Marc Halens Mirand. I’m Haitian. I started school when I was 2 years old. I did pre-k through 6th grade in Haiti, and at the end of 6 grade I move here in NY. During 7th through 8th grade I won an award for perfect attendance. I plan on finishing school and get a career that I enjoy. Life to me means friends and family who you can trust. I am pretty much on the happy side of life, but like everyone I do have some sad days or even depressed days. I have a friend that sort of look out for me and when I’m having a bad day, I have people at school and at home to talk to. I make it through my school days by thinking of either the next hour or what I will do when I get home or on the weekend

My mother and my father are the opposite of each other culturally. Attalante, my mother is Haitian and lived in Haiti for a little over 20 years or so and now leave in NY with my family. On the other hand, my father who is also Haitian has a weird background that till this day I don’t really understand like that much.

I’m 19 years old. By 22 I want to graduate college and start working in the field that I want to develop my career in. Most of my early memories from childhood are somewhat vague, but for the first years of my life, I mostly spent the day either crying or sleeping, as most babies do. A year later I began walking around my house, or what I remember as taking a couple steps and then stumbling awkwardly onto the floor. I also began to utter my first spoken words in both English, French, Haitian creole and a bit of Spanish.
