Printing

To prepare your images for printing, check:

1. File resolution. With the file open, select

image size. For best quality in inkjet printing, the resolution of your file should be no less than 266. 300 pixels/inch is a good. DO NOT RESAMPLE YOUR IMAGE up.

If your image is too big to fit on the paper, lock the height, width, and resolution together by toggling off resample. Then to fit on an 8.5 x 11 in piece of paper with a print area of 10 x 7.5, select the larger dimension and enter 10.

2. Profile: Prophoto or Adobe RGB 1998.

  • Use assign profile to get full range of color available to the profile.
  • Use convert to profile to maintain color appearance.

If you shoot RAW files, stay in 16-bit. Use the ProPhoto color profile.

If you shoot jpegs, your images are 8-bit. Use the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile.
