Domestic Project Workshop – 10/29 at 6 PM – 9 PM

To those interested in Energy, Buildings, or the Climate Movement,
With the climate crisis being one of the most defining problems of our time, New York City has been taking drastic measures to reduce energy consumption and combat carbon emissions. In 2019, the NYC Climate Mobilization Act was passed to reduce carbon emissions by 80% by 2050. To achieve this reduction, the focus is being put on the biggest sources of pollution in the city: buildings. Building energy consumption and inefficiencies release 55% of America’s total GHG emissions! This is why it is so important for us—the emerging generation of professionals—to study building systems and develop respective solutions to reduce energy waste.
What does EWB-USA CCNY do about this?
Our CCNY student chapter of Engineers Without Borders continues to run valuable workshops with this goal in mind. The skills built upon in these workshops are lent free of charge to underprivileged communities around our campus (e.g. East Harlem) to provide them the means to save both money and energy
Fortunately, the workshops that allow us to make this change are now virtual, which allows us to reach a greater audience to join our humanitarian mission! Therefore, we would like to introduce other  CUNY students to the energy efficiency field through our club. If you are interested in joining our virtual workshops, they will be every Thursday from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm (EST) where we study building systems. For the next 4 workshops, we will study the building envelope. The first Building Envelope workshop will be on Thursday, October 29th. The green job field is growing; don’t let it pass you by!
