SNAP Availability for CUNY Students

Due to a New York State policy change, thousands of CUNY students enrolled in a specific career and technical education (CTE) programs are now eligible to apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). As of October 16, 2020, students attending an institution of higher education (such as CUNY) at least half-time, and enrolled in qualifying career and technical education programs of study can now apply for SNAP.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
1. Attend one of the colleges of the Metro New York area.
2. Be currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program (currently as a freshman, sophomore, or junior) at an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) college/university.
3. Submit this application by December 2, 2020

Criteria
Application: Applicants must complete and submit the attached application by DECEMBER 2, 2020.
1. Letters of Recommendation: Each applicant must submit one recent (within the last 6
months) letters of recommendation, from someone familiar with the applicant’s educational
and career goals or from someone in the community (such as an employer, clergy, Boy or Girl
Scout leader), but not a relative.
2. Essay: Each applicant must submit the required essay as shown on the following pages.
