Estimating:

What’s required:

  • 1 – 3 years of proven success in project administration and estimation in the field of painting / construction / renovation
  • Proven understanding of takeoff and estimating software, preferably with PlanSwift or Stack
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • The ability to successfully manage multiple projects across multiple markets and timelines
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM tool a plus
  • A stellar work ethic and proven success as a self-starter

7th Annual Energy Boot Camp!!!!!

A free, three-day training program for CUNY students who are interested in internships and careers in the fields of energy efficiency & energy management services, corporate sustainability, facilities management, operations, engineering, and public policy.

We have paid internships available this summer and fall and we’ll be recruiting from our Energy Boot Camp graduates – if you’re interested in gaining professional experience in this field.

The 7th annual Energy Boot Camp for CUNY students will be held Wednesday – Friday, May 30-June 1, 9am – 4pm. You must be currently enrolled as a CUNY student to be eligible and you must attend all 3 days of the boot camp. However, we can make exceptions if you have class or work commitments – please be sure to explain that in the last question, below.

To be considered for participation in the Energy Boot Camp, please fill out this application and email your resume to cunybpl@gmail.com. Applications are due by 5pm on Friday, May 18th. Accepted students will be notified the week of May 21st. Space is limited so the sooner you apply, the better.

Eligibility

To be considered for a Building Performance Lab (BPL) paid internship position this summer or fall, students must apply and be accepted to the Energy Boot camp, and must attend all 3 days of training. Completing the energy boot camp is a prerequisite for BPL internship, unless a student has completed at least one academic course focused on energy-in-buildings (ex: Building Energy Modeling, HVAC, Low-Energy Design). Note that not all those who participate in energy boot-camp will be placed in an internship- but the training you’ll get will be valuable in your career!

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate sophmores & juniors. Undergraduate seniors applying to graduate school or first year graduate students.
  • Students must be available to work 15/hours per week.

Students majoring in: Engineering, Urban Sustainabilty, Statistical analysis, Computer science, Information technology, Business, or related fields.

Earth Day Event!!!!

There will be an Earth Day event at the City College of New York organized by the CUNY-CREST center. The event will be on April 26th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please see attached fliers.
In this event, students will be also familiarized with several scholarship and fellowship opportunities that are available to CUNY undergraduate and graduate students.
I highly suggest that you make every effort to attend this event even partially if your schedule allows.
There will be a special sign-in sheet for City Tech students (make sure you ask for it).

The City University of New York, in partnership with the New York City Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications (DoITT), provides City agencies and public schools with a streamlined and cost-effective way to hire interns to support STEM-related projects. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field is preferred.
  • Architecture, Engineering, or Project Management certification preferred
  • Minimum of four years of project management experience in all aspects of design and construction.
  • Experience with project scope development, budgeting, scheduling and contract negotiations is required
  • Experience with Multi-Family occupied renovations preferred
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office, Auto Cad, Financial Systems and project scheduling software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required

Responsibilities

  • Professional planning and hands-on management/oversight for multiple Projects including: Residential unit upgrades, Interior and Exterior renovations, Roof replacements, Façade Improvements, mechanical systems, common area and Parking Lot or Garage redesign
  • Manage multiple projects at various phases and in various locations, from project identification through design, planning, financial approval, permit issuance, construction and financial closeout.
  • Demonstrate full accountability for end to end management of projects.
  • Lead project teams consisting of architects, design engineers, general and specialty contractors, property management, operating engineers, real estate brokers and environmental consultants
  • Provide weekly project activity updates to Asset manager for Project Schedule, Budget, and Risk within Project Management web based tools.
  • Develop project goals and scope of work.
  • Oversee and prepare accurate project documentation for all phases of construction including project charter, due diligence reports, budgets, schedules, meeting minutes, financial funding requests, status reports, punch lists, and special reports on-time and in accordance with pre-established formats
  • Manage vendors (GC, A&E, Specialty vendors, etc.) to ensure full compliance with all project policies and procedures, including the formal closeout of all projects in less than eighty days after project completion
  • Must visit projects onsite at least twice a week.

Electrical Engineering Technician at CannonDesign
