Nuha Abdulla, Favorite poem

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

By: Robert Frost

At first, I didn’t understand why he chooses a forest, but I began to understand and enjoy what Robert Frost really meant when I read it again and again. To me, this poem talks about the decisions or paths we take in our life, and sometimes we are stuck between two sides. After choosing a path, we start to rethink if we took the right one or regretted picking a path we walk on. However, both paths are the same; it depends on the decisions we make, not the path. Every time I read this poem, I believe that where I am today is where I would be. I enjoy this poem because of the words and how delivered it is to me.

    There’s a lot of nice energy in this poem, it almost felt like a comedy routine with a guy picking between 2 paths.

  2. Will

    This poem felt indecisive. Being able to live with the decisions you’ve made in one path is one thing, but being regretful of not taking the other is another.

    This poem is very peaceful but very true at the same time. Sooner or later in life, we’ll all have to choose our own paths and I feel like this poem represents that perfectly.

    I like this poem because the author seemed to really express his emotions and be open and honest.

    I also really like Robert Frost’s poem and this poem is one of them I really like it. I think the tone of the poem is calm because the topic is really based on one thing which is discussion, how one discussion can make your life hell or heaven.
