• Read and be ready to discuss Myriam Gurba’s “Pendeja, You Ain’t Steinbeck: My Bronca with Fake-Ass Social Justice Literature” BEFORE CLASS. (This means you’re ready by 10 am on Tuesday to talk about this piece–not reading it during class.)
• Discuss City Tech’s Literary Arts Festival.

WRITE: 

• Homework: A 150-200 word critique of Gurba’s work. What do you enjoy? What questions/suggestions do you have? Post it under Discussions and title it Your Full Name, Gurba Critique by Thursday’s class (10 am).

• Read and discuss your classmates’ critiques of Gurba’s work.

WRITE:

• Homework: Comment on at least four of your classmates’ critiques of Gurba’s work. With what do you agree or disagree? Be specific! (“I agree with X’s thoughts on X” is not specific. “I agree with X because of X” is specific.) This is due by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 5.
