“My first Day” has a very intriguing writing style. Although the story is about an illiterate mother who migrated in with her daughter and was trying her best to work and provide for her. The daughter describes her experience during her first day in school and her surroundings. Slowly showing the progression of getting accustomed to the new environment they settled in. The style is quite interesting when realizing that the mother is the main character and the story is narrated by her five year old daughter. It does spark some questions on details being provided from a five year old perspective but what makes it interesting is that it’s dug from the memories of a little girl watching her mother struggling and thriving.
