1. Identity by Julio Noboa Polanco: I came across this poem in my speech class a few semesters ago. It spoke to me because its about choosing to be unique no matter if the people who chose to be just like one another think it is “ugly.”
  2. Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou: I am sure most of use are aware of this poem or the poet herself. I love this poem because it talks about being a “phenomenal” woman and embracing the beauty they embody and take pride in it.
  3. There is another sky by Emily Dickinson: I enjoy this poem because it is short and simple but sends a message that throughout all the darkness there is a light, there is a beauty behind it all.
  4. Messy Room by Shel Silverstein: I like this poem because of the humor behind it and the message it sends. It shows that life can get so messy that our room can reflect that and at some point we do not even recognize or own mess we created. Once we do its like “wow, this is my doing? Let me get myself together real quick.”
