Chyna Worrell, Truth & Beauty Ch. 1

In Chapter One of Truth and Beauty, I really loved how well Patchett described Lucy, both her physical traits and personality traits. She did a great job capturing Lucy and gave readers good insight on her and the type of person she is. Her in-depth description of their relationship, from the beginning of it to the letters that Lucy had sent, made the memoir more interesting. Although it seemed like Lucy took a strong liking to Patchett as soon as she arrived in Iowa, in the letters that Lucy sent her years later it seemed like their relationship got much stronger and they grew much closer. I would love to know how and why their relationship grew so strong. Also, I love that Patchett added the letters from Lucy to the memoir because it was interesting to get a sense of what she thinking, how she felt about herself and how she felt about the way that people interacted with her.

Hi Chyna grate critique! I agree, the author was very descriptive when she describe a thing or a place, and I too love the fact that she added the letters from lucy to give her readers a sense of what lucy was like.
