Meet My Ring

Meet My Ring. I’ve always wanted a ring, I would always look at which stores had the one that caught my attention the best. Then when I was in my Fall semester of college, my cousin had asked me what I would want for my birthday and i quickly told her a ring. I left it up to her to pick one that best fit me.

When it came time to go get it, it was out of stock and we had to wait. I was very upset because I couldn’t get for my birthday. So I was happy when she told me she finally had bought it. I had got it Christmas eve and I was so so happy. It was the best gift I could ever receive, I never wanted to take it off. It was such an important piece for me. It’s one of my favorite piece if jewelry that I own.

I like that you had this moment with your cousin so it wasn’t just you on your own. Like a little sprinkle on ice cream. How long have you been wanting a ring before? Was it something that you feel can be your own personal signature? Did you always know this was the ring for you and why?

    • Isabel Selmo

I had been wanting a ring for two years before I had got one. I would say yes it is my personal signature because its a piece that I wanted to always be apart of me. At first, I felt like it didn’t suit me but after it was just right.

I understand the feel of being upset when you are looking forward to something and it just doesn’t make it, but the best time is when you finally get it and you didn’t lose hope on it. When you expressed how you felt when you finally got the ring on Christmas eve felt really nice because you were waiting so long for it and now that you got it you where so happy. Just hearing made feel like i can imagine your reaction and it gave off a really warm feeling. What made you always want to get a ring?

    • Isabel Selmo

What made me want a ring was that I wanted it to signature a promise to myself, that I want to be happy, and accomplish all the goals that I ever wanted and created for myself. And that in the near future I would make myself proud.

Hi, I understand how not being able to get youre ring when you expect it to be such a let down. I like how you let your cousin choose which one suits you the best, it might have been overwhelming to chose one on your own. I get how excited you were to receive it on Christmas and how much you value it know. What made you want a ring in the first place?

    • Isabel Selmo

I wanted to promise myself to never give up on what I try to do and things I put my mind to. For me to always be happy and always believe in myself.

Isabel, I enjoyed reading your response. I’m glad that you received an item that you truly wanted for a long time. I believe that this ring is extra special because it is from a family member that you value. I was devastated to read that the ring was delayed for delivery but I believe that any valuable item is worth waiting for. One question I have for you is, why did you want a ring and not any other piece of jewelry?

    • Isabel Selmo

Well I believed that a ring has so much more meaning to it than any other piece of jewelry. And I never really was a huge fan of necklace’s or bracelets.

Great story about a connection of something that you value so much and it being from a family member. It must feel amazing how you got what you always wanted even though you had to wait for it for long time. How long you had to wait by the way? And do you like gold or silver jewelry?

    • Isabel Selmo

At first I was planning on buying the ring the summer of 2019, before starting my first semester of college. Then my cousin told me she wanted to buy me one for my 19th birthday but when she went to get it was out of stock. Then finally she was able to get it in December and gave it to me on Christmas eve. I wanted about around 5 months to get it.
I personally like silver jewelry I feel like it stands out more.

      My Ring is from Swarovski.

I liked your story about having a favorite piece of jewelry. Having something that you can’t leave your house without and that you identify with after a long wait for it must feel great. What type of alloy is the ring do you have a preference for silver or gold?

    • Isabel Selmo

i prefer sliver. And yes I truly hate leaving my house and noticing that I don’t have it on.

I am happy you got a ring that you love. Not everyone knows how to pick the right gift out so I am happy your cousin got it right. Did you discuss it with her prior that you wanted that particular ring or she just made the decision on her own?

    • Isabel Selmo

Well she and I would always look at rings and I never really knew whether if I wanted a diamond that was oval shaped or square, etc. So I told her, get something you know would best look on my hand and she did an amazing job.

I really enjoyed your story and the fact that the way I received my hand bracelet is somehow similar to yours. I did not receive my bracelet from my cousin, my wife gave it to me and it has her name, my name, and our son’s name inverted into it. The way your cousin knew what ring to get you, my wife knew exactly what to get me, something that I will never take off and although she and I are not in the best of terms, I wear and look at the bracelet every single day and think about her and how much I love her and miss her. It is not made out of gold or silver, but its a piece of jewelry that is priceless to me because of what it stands for. The love she had for me and how much I love her.
