Thanks to many sources, I concluded that the meaning of the term “civil disobedience” is the active, professed refusal of a citizen to obey certain laws, demands, orders, or commands of a government. Now applying this meaning to the story of Antigone, Ismene, and Creon I have a lot to consider with this definition taken from the internet, I believe that Antigone was trying to honor her brother’s memory but despite having the best intentions she was always disobeying his “superiors” that entire time. Creon had a clear idea of why he didn’t want Polynices burial to take place, which is why Antigone disobeyed him by going against his laws challenging him for his Polynices, now not only do we have to take notes on who Creon was, he was a ruler of course but also Antigone’s uncle.
