My Name is Fabienne Joinvil, a student in Nursing and I will provide you with everything you need to know before you decide to join this profession and also, I will share my personal experience with you in order to get a better view about nursing. History OF Nursing Nursing as a profession has existed throughout history, although it has evolved considerably over time. In the current healthcare system, nurses are one of the most trusted healthcare professionals with a significant role to play in the treatment and medical care of the sick. Being a nurse has been one of my dreams since I was a little girl. I have always said that: “ when I grow up , I want to be the girl who can help others in need, the girl that can make a difference all over the world .” In January 2010, my country was devastated by an earthquake which took away many lives. I was there, watching a lot of people dying because they couldn’t get the medical care needed. At that time, I knew for sure that becoming a nurse was definitely my calling . I was like, “ I'll be a nurse in case something like that happens again, so I can volunteer myself to go there and help my people, especially my family members and friends. I believe that if I become a nurse, I’ll definitely make a difference. I love doing things that can change people’s lives, and things that can make a difference . It’s really challenging not only physically but also mentally there will be time that patients will feel hopeless and don’t feel like fighting anymore. As a nurse we will have to be brave and positive because what we see are subjected to on a daily basis is not easily digestive. Not everyone can handle it. There will be time that a person will feel like giving up because the stress is real. However, they cannot because they have many people depending on them, many lives to save. At that moment, a person will need to be really strong and motivational in order for them to succeed. As a nurse , you are constantly communicating with each other as well as patients and their families. Firstly they use non-verbal communication which includes making eye contact and controlling the tone of their voice, appropriate body language and simply adding a smile. Secondly, they also use verbal communication which includes speaking clearly, using complete sentences and considering the tone when speaking. Thirdly, as a nurse showing compassion to someone is part of the job to treat each other with respect What a person need to know before joining this career What a person should know before joining this group . Before getting into nursing, a person should know that everything will be different once you get into it. A person should also know that being a nurse is not an easy job and it’s really challenging. They should know that we are the most trusted profession for a good reason. We are responsible for our patients. Their lives depend on us. We speak for them when they are unable to speak for themselves. Even though sometimes it might be very hard to tell the truth about them, However it’s our job to let it out no matter what. That’s what makes a person a good nurse. In the case of primary groups, communication is very effective. As a nurse it’s our job to make sure that we treat each other with respect and kindness. Communication plays an important role because we always want to check on them to make sure that everything is fine. It’s our biggest responsibility. First of all we have to show them respect and treat them with kindness and also we have to have patience with them especially during intense stress. As a nurse, we are constantly put in different situations that can be really challenging. Therefore, effective communication is everything we need to stay connected with our patients . Why Nursing is important in our society “ Nursing is a career that saves lives, brings happiness to individuals and their families , and comfort to those in need”. It can be really challenging , however, it can help us make a difference because we get to change people’s lives and help them fight through their intense moments.
