• What are your thoughts on writing in the genre you chose? Did you find it easier to express your thoughts via this genre vs. traditional academic writing (such as an essay). Why or why not? Also, reflect on how the model (either the speeches by Douglass and/or A.O.C. or letter by Wollstonecraft) helped you create your piece.

I actually find it easier to express my thoughts in a traditional academic writing because in almost all of the English classes that Iā€™ve taken, I mostly write these types of essays. Although for this genre, it was my first time ever writing something about my DC as a speech, which is something I wasnā€™t use to at all but was also fun to do. A.O.C.ā€™s speech helped me create my speech the way it is because she presented her speech for everyone to understand what women had to go through with men using ā€œdehumanizing wordsā€ towards them. When writing my speech, I used her idea to try and explain to my audience how my DC of golf has problems and solutions so that everyone can understand my point of view.

  • Find a section of the Unit 1 assignment that you struggled to write. Quote it and explain what you were struggling with and steps you took to overcome the difficulty you were facing.

A section of the unit 1 assignment that I struggled in was doing my research for the solutions of my DC. It stated, ā€œFor cheating there is only one simple solution that we use when playing golf that WIAGA uses often. This is common sense to all golfers, which is to tell the president or secretary of the club.ā€  I couldnā€™t find the solution that I was hoping to find online for cheating, compared to the other solutions that Iā€™ve successfully researched. Although, what I did to overcome this difficulty was by using what the club would have done in this situation because that is the most logical answer to use when playing with golfers in a club.

  • Imagine you had 24 additional hours to work on the speech or letter, what would you do to further develop it? Why?

Even though Iā€™ve finished my final written speech before the due date, I felt that it was really good because the professor gave me suggestions on what I should add to make it better. If I had 24 additional hours to work on the speech that Iā€™ve written, what I would have done to further develop it is have different people such as my friends and family members to read my speech so I can get their feedback on what they think of it. The more feedback I get, the better my written speech will be.
