  1. Mary Wollstonecraft is writing this letter for equal rights for women. She argues on the education system, and how women are seen as unsuccessful then men. She also states in her letter then why aren’t men fulfilling their duties as fathers why only women are fulfilling their duties as taking care of her child. First, she is confident that this letter would not be ignored by the recipient, and also she wants to reform people’s thinking on women by arguing in favor of equal rights for the human race.
  1. After closely reading and understanding Mary Wollstonecraft’s letter, I believe Wollstonecraft is part of Women’s rights DC because she wants equal rights as men. I believe that the recipient does not belong to a discourse community because we cannot predict anything about the recipient. After all, that person’s speech or any speaking was mentioned.
  1. ā€œIf woman isnā€™t fitted by education to become manā€™s companion, she will stop the progress of knowledge, because truth must be common to allā€; (Page 2)

This quote caught my attention because she uses the specific reasons to back her claim up to let the opposition know that this argument is accurate.

  1. ā€œmen become attentive to the duty of a father, you canā€™t expect women to spend in their nursery the time that they. . . .choose to spend at their mirrorā€ (page 3)

Again she uses reasons to back her claim up which is ā€œthe rights of womenā€. However, this quote also shows that men never fulfilled their duty as husband or father; they would expect a woman to fulfill her duty only to take care of her child.
