Some advice that I would give to a future student taking this class would be to be patient and open minded when doing major assignments. One struggle that I faced during this course was not being patient enough with myself to understand and break down the readings that were too confusing to me. An example of this is the Antigone play. The script was worded differently in order to fit the time frame of the play. However, this made it frustrating to read and there were times where I would just give up on it. At the end while we watched the play in class I realized how good of a play and storyline it is and that made me think to myself that I should be more patient and open minded when it comes to coming across something I don’t understand. Another piece of advice would be to make sure you have a ton of ideas for the major assignments that way if one topic doesn’t work out for you you’ll always have back ups. This was another struggle I had where I would stick to one topic and not brainstorm multiple ideas and at the end I realize I didn’t want to do that topic or didn’t understand how to write about it. However, our professor does a great job at conducting little activities that help students learn topics from each other. So those are the main two big pieces of advice I would give to a future student taking this course.
