The Oxford Dictionary defines civil disobedience as “the refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest.” The term includes any form of protest that includes going against laws or regulations. In most cases, only non-violent crimes can be considered civil disobedience.

Although she loved her brother, Antigone did not give him a proper burial purely out of love. She broke the king’s law in broad daylight so everyone can see her protest. Furthermore, she argued about the issue with Creon instead of begging for forgiveness, even as he was deciding her fate.
