This is a short talk that I gave on January 9th, 2024, at the General Education Winter Seminar at New York City College of Technology, CUNY. It summarizes elements of open pedagogy from a humanistic, holistic perspective that can influence how instructors adopt AI tools.

Rosen and I wrote this article to argue that the kinds of undergraduate research (UR) opportunities most useful to students at HSIs and MSIs are offered through an across-the-curriculum (ATC) approach. We define an ATC approach to UR as inclusive of traditional UR and broading participation in research through informal research activities at all levels of curriculum and without special facilities, that employ experiential, problem-based skills and practices.

I was lead author for a usability study of how Google’s search bar functionality impacts college students’ ability to use and interpret Boolean logic in academic library database searches.

A short academic introduction to the LEGO Serious Play mobile lab that Prof. Jason Ellis and I developed through multiple PSC-CUNY and other seed grants. We use this lab to design and deliver co-curricular workshops that support the mission of general education at City Tech.
Co-written and co-edited book chapter with Prof. Aaron Barlow focusing on how the current treatment of “class” in pedagogical scholarship on writing is ineffective in an intensely multi-cultural learning environment.
