Week 12 Journal Entry

This week, we successfully found a new power supply for the quadrotor. The new battery has the same 3.7 volts that the last one did, but it has 5000 mah, as opposed to the 500 that it is on the current battery we have. The new will be ordered this weekend. We are also looking into different lily pad arduino boards to setup a gyroscope sensor on the quadrotor. This upcoming week, we will find an arduino board and decide whether to buy one with the connector that goes into the quadrotor or just buy an arduino board an solder onto the board on the quadrotor. One other I’d like to solve this week is to determine how much the quadrotor can hold by itself. Once that is determined, then we can build a holder for the new battery that is coming.

Wow, that sounds like you guys are really gonna make it last it longer than 5 minutes. But if you build a holder for the battery, are you gonna mount the holder onto the quadrotor? I ask cause it doesn’t seem like the quadrotor could sustain a lot of weight and it might just weigh it down and affect functionality.

Hope your quad’s performance will be much better now! Are you planning to use a gyro just for tilt, or you want to go further with it (like pick up something from the ground)?
