“Most Young Kings Get Their Heads Cut Off” 

As one of my favorite quotes by Jean Michel Basquiat, I chose to Portray this image in a very artistic way. I wanted to use an element of Basquiat’s work, by incorporating the crown into this piece while making it my own at the same time. The abstract, African vibe of this piece makes it one of my personal favorites this year.

This piece I wanted to exude power being taken away, which is why I have the art centered on the page. The Quote bleeds off the page to emphasis which shows that Kings to can fall off, and then be cut off from power.

 For the only text concept I chose to use a bit of history by incorporating Louis XVI and Charles I as a guillotine chopping off the quote till the letters once again get cut off. As the most difficult piece of this project, I think I learned a little about how to manipulate words and type to portray a message, however I still have a LOT more to learn.
