My Background
Before I started the Dental Hygiene program at City Tech, I already had a lot of professional experience. In Russia, I was the Head of Customer Service and Information Department. This was a big leadership role where I managed a dynamic team of 31 people. I led 25 representatives in the call center and 6 in the information center to make sure our customers got the best support possible.
When I moved to New York, I spent 4 years working as a Dental Assistant. This time was very helpful because I learned how to work with different specialists and how to take care of patients in a fast-paced office.
Transferable Skills
Even though business and dental hygiene seem different, I use the skills from my past career every day:
• Patient Communication: My experience in customer service taught me how to talk to many different types of people. I know how to be a good listener, which helps me help patients who feel nervous about their dental visit.
• Organization and Time Management: I understand that being organized is very important in a dental office. I am using my experience from my past jobs to help me manage my time and keep my workspace ready for my patients.
• Problem Solving: My work experience helps me when things don’t go as planned. I can usually find a way to fix the situation so we can finish the work.
• Digital Technology: I am very comfortable with digital technology in the dental office. I have experience using iTero and Dandy scanners for digital impressions, and I always look for ways to use new tools to make my work more accurate and efficient.
My Professional Goal
I want to use my leadership background and my clinical training to be a great dental hygienist. My goal is to give high-quality care and make sure every patient has a professional and positive experience in the office.
