Project background

ENGAGE OERs is a project I began in the Interactive Technology and Pedagogy certificate program at the Graduate Center, CUNY.

About me

I am a librarian in the Ursula C. Schwerin Library at New York City College of Technology. I chair the library’s Open Educational Resources (OERs) Committee and coordinate our department’s OER initiative.

I’m interested in the intersection of critical pedagogy and OERs, how OERs impact the student learning experience, and the history of the global OER movement and it’s progression in U.S. higher education.

In addition to the ENGAGE OERs project, I’ve conducted a qualitative study about City Tech students’ experiences using OERs in place of traditionally assigned textbooks. You can check out findings in my thesis: Shorter, polished version to come soon!
