Where can I find preparation materials for the test?
NYC Men Teach offers the following resources:
1) NYSTCE Review Books (Tech and Math)
2) Access To Webwork (Review available online)
3) Barron’s Review Books (Algebra 1/2 and Geometry)
4) CST Workshops (Available usually once a semester in a series of 2)
5) Review Sessions with Armando during office hours.
How do I register for the CST or EAS test?
Registration materials are available on the NYSTCE website.
What are the fees for the test?
The fees vary, with CST tests ranging from $122-$161 (computer-based) or $79 (paper-based), and the EAS test costing $80.
However NYC Men Teach provides its members with vouchers to take the exam. In order to receive a voucher, you must visit our office (N604)!!!!!!!
What are the NYS Certification Tests?
The New York State Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCE) are designed to measure a candidate’s knowledge and skills in relation to an established standard, addressing New York Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations.
What does the CST test measure?
The CST test measures a candidate’s knowledge and skills in their specific content area of certification.
What does the EAS test measure?
The EAS test measures professional and pedagogical knowledge and skills necessary to teach all students, including students with disabilities, English language learners, and students from diverse backgrounds.
Are there any free study recourses available?
Yes, you can review test design frameworks, study guides, and sample questions on the NYSTCE website.

Can Paraprofessionals become teachers
Yes they can. Paraprofessionals may already have some college credits or even an associate’s degree, but they will likely need to complete a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
