Collaboration/Teamwork

Since the beginning of my internship, I have had to work in multiple teams. The main team where I work most prominently is composed of nine interns, including me. Most are from a different department, and I am the only art intern on this team, along with the copy intern, with whom I work closely. Together, we are working on bringing to life a campaign of our own ideation and creativity. We have meetings almost every day of the week to discuss, brainstorm, and ensure we are on track to meet the deadline for this project.

Within our meetings, we collaborate and share ideas, research, and any other input we might have. We also try and get to know everyone to foster a sense of collaboration and teamwork by leaving space to talk about our days and future plans. We’ve all worked together in the brainstorming phase and now have spread the work in the research phase.

I’ve contributed to brainstorming and strategy and provided comments on what creative direction we should go in based on our brief and insights so far. In the coming weeks, I expect to become really busy with drafting activation ideas and sketching out the final deliverables.

My workplace culture has allowed for me to attend various meetings throughout the day and have quiet spaces to meet with my team physically and remotely at the same time. The company attire is considered business casual, and in this space I would typically wear slacks, skirts, or casual long dresses with blouses and cardigans. And when in doubt, always dress more formal than casual. The workspace itself is an open layout, and a typical day consists of attending various meetings, which are mainly online, and working from nine to five with lunch included. It’s up to the employee to schedule the work that needs to be done for the day and make time for that. As an intern, we do get amenities, like a snack bar, drinks, a lunch space, and treats every month, which only enhances the experience, and it’s something I’m so thankful for!
