In order to make a 6-sided Hexagon shape, you would use the polygon tool to make the polygon and if it does not have 6 sides already you would hold your Shift + Up Arrow to increase the sides, or if there are too many sides you would Shift + Down Arrow. After making sure you have 6 sides you would use the Rotate tool (R) and rotate the hexagon to make it point straight up.

The pen tool will help with making a bezier curve but with a straight line, if you already have one and want to make a curve to it, you would have to use the Anchor Point Tool. The Anchor Point Tool is located in the same category as the Pen tool. You can also press Shift+C to bring it up as well.

In order to make a 6 sided hexagon shape you will need to look for the polygon tool. This tool you use to make any pointed shapes such as triangles and stars etc. As for making it a 6 sided shape, you would need to look for the polygon tool on the tools bar and if it is not you can look it up on the search bar or windows bar I believe. Once you have the polygon tool selected you would need to click on any place on the art board you choose. There will automatically produce a pop up giving you options such as sides and shape, you input 6 under sides, press enter and then it posts it for you l. You can also change how rounded you would like your shape to be as well. A lot of good stuff!

The tool that changes a straight line anchor to a Bézier curve would be the anchor point tool. Firstly you will click, hold your mouse, don’t let go, move either up or down depending on where you would like for your curve to be.

    a. To create a hexagon in illustrator you will go to the tools panel first and select the polygon tool. Then, you can click anywhere on the canvas to pull up the measurements and input the six 6 sides and however big you want your hexagon to be and set it as the final value. After, you can use the selection tool to rotate and make it vertical.

    b. The pen tool allows you to create a bezier curve. With the pen tool you can click and create a straight line then use the anchor-point tool to create a bezier curve from the straight line.

Hi, How are you, thank you for sharing, I totally agree with you about pen tool and bezier curve. I usually just draw quickly with pentool but then a Bezier Curve comes along and helps alot to adjust

    1. In order to create a 6 sided hexagon shape, you head over to the illustrator’s toolbar section and click on the polygon tool, therefore holding shift + drag to the artboard. Another option you can try is once you click on the polygon tool, you can double click anywhere in the artboard, where a pop-up Polygon Menu will appear, and you can type in 6 in the ‘sides’ or use the up/down arrows. To make the hexagon point up you will need to use the selection tool (V), click on the hexagon shape, and then use the rotate tool (R) to make that rotation of the shape pointing up.
    2. The “Anchor Point Tool” located at the Pen Tool section will change a straight line anchor point to a Bezier curve. You can also use the command shift + C to get the anchor point tool. You’ll see a thin stroke of a 3 line triangular icon appear.

Ooo~ I didn’t know about the clicking and dragging one? I always just clicked on the art board and waited for the polygon pop up box to appear but I love short cuts so the traditional way I would do. Man I would hate it because it wouldn’t be up to my lazy impatient. Speed

    1. To create a six sided hexagon shape you’ll need the polygon tool first. By clicking anywhere in your artboard, a pop up menu will ask you how many sides you want your shape to be. Put in the value 6 and you should see the hexagon. To make the hexagon point up just have the selection tool click on the shape, then hold onto an anchor point, and then rotate it to where it points up.
    2. The pen tool will help you out with creating bezier curves. Click and hold while dragging your mouse up or down. Then create another point the same way and you’ll have your bezier curve.

    Hi,

    1. I would create the 6 sided hexagon shape by going to the polygon tool then drag my cursor to the Artboard. Then, hold down the key Alt and click. Then, a menu would pop up, and then I would type in 6 and then I would use the pen tool to trace out the 6 sided hexagon shape I just created. After I traced 6 triangles around the hexagon, I would delete the hexagon shape

To make the hexagon point up, there are 2 ways. First, select the hexagon with the black arrow key (selection tool) and move the cursor to the corner of the hexagon. A rotation icon should pop up at the corner and just the selection tool to rotate the hexagon to point straight up. Second, use the rotate tool and select the hexagon to rotate it to point up. 2.

The tool in Illustrator that can change a straight line anchor point to a Bezier curve is the anchor point tool in the pen tool. Click on the pen tool and hold the mouse. Then drag down all the way at the bottom and that should be the anchor point tool.
