LINE/MOVEMENT

When I first started this project I had to do thumbnail sketches of lines showing movement , at first I thought how is this possible and how I was gonna Incorporate so i started to play with different designs until I decided to show movement using my finger. While I was doing the project I started to see movement even though I had to do it plenty of times because some how the lines wasn’t straight enough for me,but the end result was worth it.This project showed me that movement can be shown in different ways.

SQUARE/MEANING

In squares project  I had to cut up squares of different sizes  and use a particular sizes that would fit the meaning of the given word. I had to do multiple tracings showing a layout of I viewed the word could be expressed and out of the six words two of them gave me a run for my money so to speak , first one was tension only because getting the boxes to tilt at a specific angle to show that something big was about to happen was getting to me but it turned out good and secondly the next word drove me crazy trying to make boxes playful to me at first I kind of drop them on the paper like dominoes hoping they would fall in a good place it didn’t turn out good but then I started to think of the paper as a football field and the boxes were my players , I really think my play line up turned out great. The square project showed me that you have play around with designs because you could until you find the right one.

TEXTURE/FIGURE/GROUND

In the texture 50/50 figure/ground I felt it was the most difficult one as far as the process at first we had to collect 20 rubbings from whatever can give you a ruff texture , I got my textures from shoes, train station ,the wall and from a place mat that I kept rotating to get it just right. the next step was the approval of 12 rubbing that was laid out on the left side of the Bristol paper and then I had to use tracing paper to copy the design and see if we could form shapes from the textures. After I transferred it to the right side and figured out were I what portion I wanted to make it either white or black for either figure or ground. When i started to add in the black parts it really started to look really cool and I was proud of myself for how it turned out. The figure/ground taught me that even though a project can start off strange it can turn into something beautiful.

COMPOSITION/TRANSPARENCY

The transparency project had a fun start to it , the class had a time game in which the professor named an object and we had to draw it to complete our composition,we had to do it about six times. The start of the project came into play , the design process really began I had to change the size of the objects  and give it a playful feel. My design was complete next was painting it, i started from the squiggly line color and then worked on the rest of the painting based on that, the colors turned out good. In this project I saw that I improved on my mixing skills and learned about color contrast and how it could make a big difference.
