Working as a dental assistant has significantly prepared me for practicing dental hygiene as it has provided me with many skills. From this previous employment, I’ve been around dentists as they conducted various treatments, enabling me to know all the aspects of dental tools, x-rays, and patient care. These experiences will help me to be more efficient and confident in my work as a hygienist. I have also worked a lot with patients in teaching how to care for their teeth at home, brushing, and flossing. I am also trained in the cleaning of instruments and infection control rules that keep the whole clinic safe. I am confident that implementing these skills will be useful in helping me transform into a dental hygiene career.
