Pre-Proposal

The imaginary project I will work on is on the GPS glasses. The GPS glasses would have build on gps navigation system. The user wears the glasses as any other glasses. This kind of glasses would act as a gps navigation also as shades for protecting form strong rays form the sun and would act as a regular glasses for those user with low visibility. The user would have the ability to toggle between the interfaces adjusting to his/her will. This GPS glasses will be equip with high tech. The user will be able to use it as a gps without overlapping the visibility to see or causing any warm to the user. As the user wears the gps glasses, the user can toggle between “shades, regular or gps”. if the gps is chosen then it will activate the navigation system and the voice command asking for two points address “A” current location and address “B” destination.

The user has the option to type it him/herself by touching the lens as a touch screen or he/she can use the voice command and just speak the two points. The gps option on the glasses will ask like any other gps will ask the city, state address and zip. Once the two points are accepted the gps glasses with then scan the area by tracing the outlines of any object that’s on the road sort of like using the trace tool on Photoshop. It will constantly trace over any new object that keeps appearing on the road. The tracing method on the glasses will be so thin that it wouldn’t distract the user’s eyes.

The scanning and tracing will be done immediately. The lanes on the road will highlight slightly notifying the user which exit to take or which lane to switch into. The other option is the shades in which it the brightness of the lens will darken protecting the user’s eyes form the strong rays of the sun but still be able to see the road clearly. The regular option will be for those users who have low visibility. The user will be able to focus it into place by rotating a little button at the right visibility for the user to see.

The technologies I will be searching on how to mount or program the gps navigation into the glasses without adding much height to it. I will also be required to do search for lens that can be both touch screen and eye visibility. It will include voice recognition and auto scan area tracking. This will benefit for all user who drive or have a car and especially for those user that travel a lot. This will help any user on the road from mounting a regular gps on the windshield and from having it to fall every time. With the GPS glasses the user no longer have to move its eye from left to right constantly looking at the road and the gps.

  1. I think the GPS is a great idea. Now, just for clarification is the user going to see the lines, which he/she has to follow, or they will use the voice for guidance.
Also nighttime can have something that is for night vision or the GPS lines to change its color for better viewing.

Google Glass is very similar to your concept. You can find some great ideas and see some of the uses that Google came up with in their device. The link is below to see a demonstration.

I can definitely see the usefulness for a product like this. It’s distracting and a potential safety hazard to have to always look down at a phone or GPS, even with the audible directions. It would be awesome see the directions and be able to actually see where I’m going simultaneously.

This is a good idea, I would wear it, but I’m wondering if it’ll make me crash or step on dog poo. You can definitely think about the visibility you want to put as a default, but also think about the visibility majority of people have. Is the traceability going to be in one or both lens. Look into how this model makes it safe for the user to walk or drive:

For deliverables you should hand draw or photoshop pieces of what you want into this at least to show your main concept of these glasses! 🙂

For your project I believe these links will not only help you understand visual impairment and how the eye works, but also the new technology to combat ophthalmic distortions so your idea will be safe.

    Deliverables

    1. first set up a system quadrent for the ophthalmic orientation (zones of distortion)
    2. voice command implementation.
    3. understanding of XYZ axsis
