Technology That Makes the Difference !

The three project I liked are extracted from the http://ioio.media.mit.edu/node/7 website. What I like about these conceptual device done by students is that they align themselves, in principle, with one element of my motto, “Using technology to improve the lives of others.”

1. This is a Bluetooth Alcohol Detector Accessory for Android Phones. This device in combination with the Android app in the I-Phone can be employed by friends of party goers, ready to go home after drinking large amounts of alcohol, to decide wether to be the designated drivers or send them in a cab home. 2. This is a demonstration of an Android Rescue Robot.  This robot can have its uses in a variety of real world problems. In this age of terrorism, robots such as this can be used to detonate bombs by controlling them using touchpad devices from a safe distance, excavate and detonate anti-personnel mines in countries that have seen wars in the 20th century and also to be able to locate people burried under rubbles of houses or bridges in earthquakes hit locations. 3. This device is called the Obstacle Avoiding vehicle. I like this because it can be used on cars that back out of garages and run over kids, playing on the driveway being out of sight from the driver. We can employ strong brakes that bring the car to a sudden stop when the looping sensors come in contact with a human body. Countless tragedies of this sort can be avoided if bought and installed by families who have kids that play on their driveways.
