Branding

For this preliminary idea, I used the curved to vertical method from the before and after document. This was just something I was doodling in on Adobe Draw on my phone. I tried to use my initials along with one of my favorite colors with it. It obviously is just a thought. The skeleton of a skeleton.

I tried to color the negative space with a photo I took of a dock type area in WilliamsBurg Brooklyn. It has Instagram filters on it so I don’t know if I could actually call the photo “mine” in it’s entirety. I scrapped this one too because it seemed to cheesy and lazy.

For this one, I tried to crop it out the letters. I didn’t come out well because I messed up and spread the letters out a bit too much. I completely forgot that the letters needed to be together in the middle of the banner. But other than that, I like the background of it I guess. I reminds me of music sheets. I love music but am not musically talented in any shape or form. (Well I did play trombone in eighth grade..) It looks like I’m getting closer to a solid idea.

For my final banner logo I have sans serifs which means my letters had no serifs. I wanted to keep it clean cut. Give it a smoother look that’s pleasing to the eyes as well as compliment the clean straight lines in the rest of the background. The x-height is large because the letters are gigantic. The type measure was 232pt with a pretty thick stroke on top of it. Since it was giant, black and had a heavy stroke I didn’t feel a need to bolden it any further. I didn’t want to italicize it either because I thought it would mess up the straightness of the banner in it’s entirety. Even so, I ended up having the letters, or rather, the letter borders overlap.

I’m a mess. Everything in my life is scattered but I find order and perfection in the little things I do. I’m a left brained personality that’s trying to be be an organized right brained personality. I wanted to combine that along with my love and necessity of music.
