About the color Blue

Blue is my favorite color because it’s the most pleasing to me. It also makes me feel calm. I also like it because I associate the color blue with the winter and that is my favorite season. Many people have found that blue is the color that makes them feel secure, peaceful, and orderly. Not only does it make them feel peaceful, but it also makes people more productive. The color blue is the worlds favorite color because of the peaceful nature attached behind it, for example lakes, oceans, waterfalls, and because the color makes people feel secure. Although the color blue is the worlds most favorite color it is the worlds least appetizing color. According to dunnedwards.com people started, “making blue pigments…About 6,000 years ago, humans began to develop blue colorants, Lapis, a semiprecious stone mined in Afghanistan, became highly prized by the Egyptians”. Many people adored the color blue back then and still do today.

Description of Blue

The color blue is one of the three primary colors of pigments in paint, traditional color theory, and the RGB color model. It lies between violet and green on the spectrum of visible light. Blue can be found in nature such as the water and sky but is rarely found in fruits or vegetables. Most shades of blue convey a sense of trust, loyalty, cleanliness, and understanding but in American culture, it is a symbol of depression. The color blue could be also used to express cold, wet or slowness. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body because it has a very calming effect and slows human metabolism. I chose this color because it is my favorite color. I feel like the color blue matches my personality because I am a very mellow person.

History of the Color Purple

The color purple in history was known for representing royalty. According to the History Channel it says “the color purples ties to king and queens date back to the ancient world, where it was prized for its bold hues and often reserved for the upper crest.” If you were able to obtain purple dyes this meant you were probably royalty. It was very high in demand and only the richest of people could wear this color. Everything made from purple dye was expensive even clothes. Royalty would often say that they were “born in purple” because of how rare, rich, and expensive it was.

Project 4

My first picture is my complementary selfie. I had my favorite colors which was green to be the background of my photo and the other complementary counterpart of my favorite color which was rubine red. I liked the way it turned out because I kept the mood and the features of my face which weren’t lost. My second image is my triad and I also liked the way it turned out. Once again since my favorite color, green, is being repeated as my primary it instead of it being the background, it showed as my foreground. My second color of my triad was violet and I decided to use that as my background. For my third triad color, orange, I decided to use it as a part of my glasses. I thought I liked my triad composition better than my others because the whole mood of my image changed from happy to sinister. It definitely showed a lot a lot of negative connotations throughout it. Lastly I have my analogous. Personally I thought I could’ve done better because the bottom part of my face starts to become distorted. My mood for this was non existent, but it was a part of my experimentation process. My analogous colors were a lime green pantone, a green pantone (primary) and a mellow green pantone.
