Lost & Found – Discover

OBVIOUS

  • Button – found by the boardwalk, this button is obvious and geometric cuz of the pattern on the side of the button. The shadow of the button gives away the fact that it is right in front even though it takes like about 60% of the image since it’s closely photographed.

story: Showing the crest of an old kingdom, this button belongs to a young girl whose destiny is to become the great ruler of this land. Unfortunately, greatness doesn’t come easily without obstacles. She must lead her people to a safe haven, away from the Goblin King, the very destructive creature who killed half of the kingdom, including the past King and Queen.

  • Little Bottle – found by the boardwalk, this little bottle is obvious figure because you see it being in front clearly.

story: The only thing left behind by her brother, Moonriver, an aspiring witch doctor, now is on the search of the mystery behind his disappearance and what exactly is in the bottle.

  • Tattered paper cup – found on the streets of my neighborhood, I’d say the back ground is organic, while the cup is geometric because of the patterns on it.

story: Just your average paper cup from the local pub where, after long hours of work, Elvens, Dwarves, Gnomes, and other creatures spends their night away.

AMBIGUOUS

  • Money Tree – found at a random garage sale, I took a photograph of this money tree appearing as ambiguous because you can’t tel exactly what it is nor where the background exactly is.

story: A rare artifact given by the Grimm Ripper to the great first emperor of ancient Pangea nation. It is sought after by treasure hunters because it’s known to give unimaginable power and  riches to however wields it, the catch? The owner will only get to live for 7 years, after that the Ripper comes to collect the end of his barter.

  • The Mat – found discarded along with other things at the sidewalk, ambiguous

story: One of the items sewn by a miller’s daughter in order to marry the kind, made out of the golden thread provided by the mischievous imp, Rumplestilskin. We all know this story, but little do people know that for every items that was sewn using the Rumplestilskin’s thread brings bad luck…and there is only one way of getting rid of the items, handing it down to somebody who will willingly accept it. (Burning it or any sorts will not work, the bad luck will only get worst.

  • Wall piece – I’m actually unsure what exactly this is, I just found it outside of house, it seems like a piece of the rooftop or the wall tho (the black part of the image). Ambiguous

story: Part of a decaying hunted house. Not much is known about the house, but the owners were once a wealthy family who owns a large portion of land in our neighborhood back in the day. But unfortunately, there’s always an end to everything, the family strangely vanished at once without any witnesses. Now, what happened with all the properties and riches? No one know exactly, but, the weird thing is, the house stayed up well kept for the next 20 years without a trace of anybody actually taking care of it.

Step 4-Deliver

(My finals were handed in during class. Below is only my development. None of my finals are present on this page in particular.)

Obvious:

Ambiguous:

I’m have a mixed feeling on my assignment. While I believe the I created interesting designs but they weren’t up to par with a few of the expectations set. While not intentional, their was a bit of a lack in consistency in my finished pieces. The marker I used wasn’t too consistent, even if I did apply many coats. Another thing to note is my obvious didn’t completely hit the 30/70 relationship it should’ve

Lost and Found project 1- Step 1

Obvious 1

The image is a geometric shape. Its clearly circler with a few bumps on the edges. The relationship between the figure and background is the difference of monochrome. The contrast is really bright between them. The image is obvious because the circle takes up about 30% of the foreground.

obvious 2

The shape is also geometric. The shape is hexagonal in overall shape. The relationship between the figure and background is a weird one. The use of contrast are on the shape but the black goes on to the background. This means on the dark side, the figure wouldn’t keep its hexagon shape. The is obvious because again this takes up about 30% of the whole image.

Obvious 3

This one is geometric. The image has a background with similar monochromes to it. its mixed with two shapes with both being in the lighter shape of gray. This is obvious because the figure stands bigger and sticks out.

Ambiguous 1

This image contains many shapes with different monochromes. Its round in some places but also look like the liquid of a lava lamp. This makes the edges of the shapes look organic. Since the figure consist of many shapes with two contrast, it would be hard to tell what sin front and what’s in the back.

Ambiguous 1

This is another rectangle shaped figure. Its geometric but more wavy and folded. The relationship between the figure and background is the almost perfect spacing of the positive and negative space. if this was adjusted then it would be perfect. This is ambiguous because base on the shape itself. It would be easier to tell the difference if the first half was cropped.

Ambiguous 3

This is the most difficult to find. I had to go looking for this image. The shape seems organic since there is no clear geometric shape within this image. The relationship would letting be the negative space being small in some locations while the positive takes up a large about of space.

Story for all images (combine in one paragraph)

The busy streets of New York is not too kind to the things within it. The things we create or put there all have their story on how and or why they got there. Not every try is usable. A circle like figure was a leftover from a delicious meal and was toss aside on the cold hard pavement. The same can be said for another paper like figure. This one was left alone next to the trash when it’s owner failed to aim it in the bin. These two figure gets constantly stepped and rolled on until the magic moving bin swipes them away. Wings are not needed to fly where this thing is going. All it needs is the wind to carry it on its journey to freedom from the deadly valley below. As for the other figures, nature are not so kind to them. Constant rain and oxygen doesn’t make the metal. Not being able to move like the figure above can lead to being abuse by the creatures and the air around them. The lava shape figure could get to this state by other creatures with sharp claws and other organisms that might find this figure as a snack. The jagged shapes can be from the elements chipping away at it and the tape from content posters plated on it making at the damage worst.
