HW for Tue 10/15

1. Find an image related to an argument/thesis you’re thinking of writing about for your Essay 2.  Post this image (or a link to it) to the blog along with a paragraph or more of description, including the following:
–the “context” in which you found the image: the way you searched, the website you found it through, the person who took/created it and/or posted it
–the “idea” or “message” expressed by the image and its significance (why this idea or message matters–and to whom)
–the “action” represented in the image and how it connects to the “idea” or “message”: where this action is taking place, who the characters of this action are, what they look like, what they are doing, what they might be feeling/thinking/etc. (Note: if your image has no “characters,” that’s fine–just describe the details of the image and the actions/ideas represented in it as best you can)
2.    If you want a provisional letter grade for your Essay 1 by the midterm, e-mail me a *revised* version of it by Tuesday.

I found this picture on Twitter. The message behind this picture is that people express themselves differently on social media then they do in real life. People may represent themselves as looking successful when in reality they’re alone and depressed. This goes to show not everything you see on social media is perfect. You can see in the image that a girl is taking a selfie of herself smiling and she looks happy but, as soon as she’s offline you can see her true self not as happy as she looks online. While in the picture it represents a female I feel like this occurs to most people on social media if not all.

I found this image while I was on Facebook and I accidentally pressed on this link and this image popped up and it gave me a idea about my essay #2. The message behind this image states how many people do not be social with their friends and family and be on social media all day. This is because technology is very addictive and a person has to be on their phone’s or else it will be boring. This is a sign board that is trying to give a lesson that we should act like it’s the 1900’s when everything was more creative and fun.

I found this by searching up if violent video games make people more violent in real life. I think this would be an interesting topic to research because there are a lot of violent video games that children play and with all the kids who have committed horrendous acts at schools I think it would be interesting to research if video games put ideas into their heads. Personally I don’t think video games can make people more violent but others might disagree and that can be another reason to do research on this topic.

I Found this Image on google by searching social medial is running our lives on google and I found this image very interesting because in a way it shows that social media is torturing us and is taking over who we are. We let a lot of things on social media make many decisions for us, it’s like a weapon. This picture kinda lead to think about a child playing with a toy, the toy had no control the child does. Now that I think about it is to social media controlling or running our lives or is the people on social media? This picture is like someone being punished because of social media and they made the wrong decisions and now have to face the consequences.

  5. I found this image when I searched up social media and business. The main idea that is expressed in this image is the positive effect social media has on business and what we classify as business, so as its shown in the picture social media is a great marketing tool. We live in a day and age in which you yourself can be a business, we have influencers that started by simply posting a video on youtube to later create a something much bigger from there. Although social media can have negative effects on people and society it also does good.

  6. I found this image on google by searching up “social media addiction”. To me this image portrays what people view social media to be and how it impacts people mentally. I feel like this image is trying to show how people are evolving through the internet letting it take over the way we act and view the world or how we let social media make run society.

  10. The is a picture taken from URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=METUyD3hG5g

It is from where that despite the allegations against him. He was humble enough to share an apology with his fans and even blamed himself for being too affectionate towards his fans, even though there is no evidence that has ever assaulted anyone. It is a sad video because it shows how easily someone can be falsely painted into a bad light. It shows what kind of terrible society we live in, where the most innocent of people can be taken down by manipulation and lies.

  11. When I saw this image on Intagram I asked myself “We will continue to evolve” This is an interesting and difficult question to answer.  My instinct is to think that this will never happen, but that the rate of technological advance can decrease almost to a stop if our species is able to survive long enough.  I don’t think we can discover everything that can be discovered, so to speak, because as we get closer and closer to reaching that goal, the time between each discovery will continue to increase until it reaches that level.  point out that it was practically infinite.

  12.

I found this picture on the face book app while scrolling my feed, in the picture it’s 4 girls lined up dressed up nicely, probably going out, 3 of the girls are wearing heels with a dress and their hair out, with calm makeup while one of the girls are resting a dress with sneaker, hair tied back and vibrant makeup. All of these gifs probably feel very pretty and confident.I chose this picture because social media made it seem like this girl with the sneakers can’t dress or dresses weird because she doesn’t look like the rest. Social media will make people think that they need to be a certain way because everyone around them Is that way. At first glance a person may think that the girl with the sneakers is the awkward one out because of how social media depicts it.

  13. I found this image by searching up “glued to social media” on google. This image is portraying how were so glued to social media and our phone in general, we don’t even make interaction with our loved ones anymore and this is a problem and can cause problems in the future. Why are we looking and caring about what other people do? when we should be worrying about ourselves.

  14. I found this picture by looking up “social media instagram girls” on google. I felt like even though the picture is just some girls looking at their phones, the message is strong since there are many other people that can be doing the same thing, looking at pictures of “picture-perfect” people and it lowers their self esteem. Many people grow insecure of their appearance because of social media and this picture shows the start of it.

  15. https://www.schudio.com/the-benefits-of-using-social-media-in-schools/

I found this picture by searching up the benefits of social media. I believe social media has a lot of benefits and it helps us in many ways.  The message of this picture is Social media helps us with business work, having connection with friends and family. Google helps us find answers and our way back home or how to go somewhere. It shows us in the picture of a girl with Idea bubbles on top of her head with texting, Facebook, weather, you tube icons. It helps us understand without social media we would not be able to do the terrific things we do today. We get to talk to our family that lives states away. We get to build our business by mass communication and groups joining the business trend. Social media gives us ideas and helps understand things we do not understand in general. The message of the picture is social media helps us grow and be better. My essay 2 is about Social media and its benefits.

  16. In this image, you can see there’s a video game in the back. The game instead of displaying “Game Over”, it displays “NO LINK.” This suggests that theres no link between video games and violence. The New York Times’ opinion’s youtube video suggest that, after the shootings, many political opinions have blamed video games for the violence we see today. They suggest that we are glorifying the violence, but in reality theres something much worse happening. The violence is caused by something internal rather than something external like playing a game. The video gives a point of view from a gamer that has many subscribers, he records him playing the game (violent video games) and not once has he had the urge to go and act on violence. “Theres been no link between playing violent video games and the violence” said the Physiological Association. Therefore, after many years of research there hasn’t been any link between the two.
