I had an idea on what concept maps are, but never actually used it when note taking. After going over the concept map for this semester, I can honestly say that concept maps have a different approach than past styles of note taking. The contrast between the two is that traditional note taking styles have more of a linear effect whereas concept map note-taking styles have more of a hierarchy effect. It’s visually appealing and easy to understand the concept of an idea when looking at it via a concept map. I think moving forward, I plan on note taking using the concept map idea because I believe it’s an easier approach to going back for research purposes. If I ever wanted to go back to my notes to get an idea on what I’m learning, using a concept map can help me identify key points when it comes to the reading materials. After going over the concept map, I don’t think I’ll go back to traditional note taking styles.
