When skimming through the Long island Pamphlets in the BHS Library, they document past disasters mainly in the Long Island area but also all around New York City. The information in the reading and the illustration of the disaster help us see what the consequences of hurricanes disasters in coastal areas, what resources would be needed for the repairs and if researched extensively  can help us figure out what can be done to avoid such disasters in the future. In the book there is a line that says “Now look at Long Island in 1951, but quickly, before what you see today becomes obsolete tomorrow.The only permanent thing around here is the aspect of it all.
