In this paper, Merchant showed a detailed comparison of both the similarities and differences between a window display seen at a store named “Bergdorf Goodman” at 754 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY and a Japanese painting at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY. Besides their similarities, this paper mainly focuses on the “Nine Elements/ tools of Design” and the “Eight Principles/ rules of Design”.
