On November 21, 2013 I attended a seminar hosted by CUNY NYC City College of Technology (NYCCT) IEEE Chapter hosted a seminar on Plasmonics in Optical Communications. The guest speaker was Dr. Djarfar Mynbaea, a professor at NYCCT. Dr. Mynbaea discussed about how much data is being used by the public and need to expand technology to move data faster and efficiently. In 2013 60 exabytes of data per month will be used by the general public. In 2000 the data usage was about 12 exabytes a month which is roughly 100, 000 times textual information stored in the US Library in Congress.
