Assignment#2:  Why become a License Architect.

In the career of Architecture there are a lot of paths you could take with Architectural experience but i think being a License Architect is a big part of the industry and it could open up a lot of opportunities. When you are in a job interview and you have licensed Architect in your Resume it shows the employer that you have the architectural skills and judgement to ensure the health and safety of those who construct, maintain, and inhabit the structure you have blueprinted. Another reason why to get an Architecture License is because it allows you to position yourself for career advancement and also a  license will give you a higher earning potential than unlicensed architects. The last reasons would be because as a licensed architect, you’ll be able to choose the type of projects you work on and firms that you join and also its an opportunity for you to be able to sign-off on projects, supervise teams, and start your own firm. I know that becoming a license Architect takes a lot and also gives you many responsibilities but i know that taking getting my Architecture License is a path i need to take in my career.

Architect: Yes or No?

There was a point in my life I heavily debated if continuing my education to become an RA was worth it. I was transferring from Queensborough community college with an associate in architectural technology. Problem was none of my design classes went through transferred to NYCCT. I was worried if I was wasting time in school where I could be working. I wasn’t in a position I couldn’t find a job because I have connections in the industry, but I asked myself is that as far as I’ll go? Being a registered architect for me is more then just a job its an accomplishment. That certification validates all my hard work and opens even more avenues to me. Before I always thought ill just be a General contractor one day and that’s it. But why stop there? Why not be the guy who designs and builds his structures. Some people enjoy a comfortable life and that is 100% fine. Personally, I want to see exactly how far I can go and push myself so I wont ever have the opportunity to sit in regret and say, “I could have done that”. Why not dream big and see where life take you even if its halfway around the world?

ARCHITECT LICENSE – YES OR NO?

Becoming a licensed architect is a goal I’ve decided to strive for since I began my interest in architecture. I want to have the joy of having the “R.A” at the end of my name. I want to belong part of a group that help shape the world we live in. After applying and attending graduate school, working the hours required to take the test, I will obtain that license. The benefits of obtaining that license is a higher salary then those who don’t have a license. You don’t lose anything from obtaining this license, you only seek more opportunities in more exciting and bigger projects, ultimately advancing in your career.

Becoming a licensed architect is a thought I’ve contemplated for a while. Licensure is something I would like to accomplish in my architectural career. One of the reasons I’m not opposed to it is that, I will work most of the hours required for licensure sooner or later, there is no harm in logging those hours and making them count toward something. The only con is the level of difficulty of the long and arduous test. There are a limited amount of positions you can hold and buildings you can design when you are not licensed. The title of an architect can not be earned without a license, various sources have proclaimed that architectural graduates with their licenses are paid 15-20% more per year compared to interns with the same amount of experience. Obtaining my license opens up more opportunities for career advancement and involvement in more exciting and challenging projects.

ARCHITECT: YES OR NO?

Lisset Garcia

As of now, yes I do want to become a licensed architect. I want to be able to open up my own firm and be the boss of me and everyone else. I am very meticulous with my work and like everything to come out perfect although that does not always work for me. Being meticulous is as much as a flaw as it is a virtue. I can get stuck very easily when things aren’t going the way I would like them to go. I realize that being the boss and overseeing every detail of a project might become overwhelming but that is something I’m willing to tackle. For me personally obtaining the license is the last stop in this journey that I have begun. Obtaining it will be closing a chapter and hopefully it will open doors for many many other great projects and journeys.

Architect? Yes or No?

Thinking about becoming a licensed architect is a great question and something I’ve pondered on for a while. In the path I’m heading I want to become a licensed architect because it brings on a responsibility and commitment in the career of architecture that one experiences prior this achievement. Plus, I would want to possibly work on my own projects or even be able to sign those drawings off with my own signature, making architecture feel more serial. Becoming a licensed architect will tell my employer that I have the experience to take on huge future responsibilities. In my opinion having my license will give me the opportunity to express my designs through the forms I make or even the architectural language I establish around a community. Everyone has a unique style to architecture, so why not make it become real. Architect? Yes.

I want to become a licensed architect, because I love designing and studying architecture. I want to open up my own firm, where I can use my creativity and problem solving skills to build a better future. I want to find joy in my profession while improving society. I appreciate the combination of constructing to find a solution to an existing issue and adding my personal expression to the piece of architecture. I enjoy visualizing architecture, so the act of creating physical buildings where people will benefit from is a dream come true.

Architect: Yes or No?- By Taylor Hernandez

I feel that becoming a licensed architect is right for me due to how responsible I am and how cautious I am when completing a task. I am very prompt when it comes to deadlines. When I complete projects, I like to be sure that all parts are done correctly and do not have any cut edges. When I complete a task I do take my time to ensure to make sure everything is correct before final submission. I really enjoy this field of work and therefor want to continue. I like to be in-charge of what takes place. I don’t trust anyone when they tell me information because the information could be false or pretend. I do have very high standards in life and therefore continue to leave the bar raised. Anytime I run into a problem I find a solution and therefor continue to move on. I would be very capable to run a firm and to have people work for me who are very trust worthy, responsibility and independent.
