After watching a video on Ancient Mesopotamia on YouTube, it showed a different perspective on how the civilization rose and declined,but leaving behind their remaining sources that we see on present day. What World History teachers taught us about this civilization, wasn’t fully explained in detail on what was used to be the most creative civilization of their time. What can I remembered about the civilization was that it took place on present day Iraq, Kuwait, and a section of Syria.  Ancient Mesopotamia had their civilization for almost 1,700 years throughout different empires and created many achievements in art, mathematics, culture,and architecture.
On those years of existence, only four empires rose and declined. The Akkadian Empire was the first civilization that took place around 2,300 BC; where Sargon, “The Great King” was famous for the conquest of the Sumerian city-states that led to the world’s first empire and existed for 200 years. The second empire was for the Babylonians in the 1,900 BC, where the first laws of King Hammurabi was created; known as the Code of Hammurabi. Furthermore, the Babylonian Empire grew trade and agriculture which became an important trade center for the empire. However, the empire declined as well around and the Assyrian Empire took their place around 900 BC, done great achievements such as canals and strengthened military. However, the last empire was unique than the other 3 empires that ruled the lands of Ancient Mesopotamia. The Neo-Babylonian Empire took place around 600 BC and took their structures serious yet beautiful. Their architecture were taken from the Greek such as the columns and temple but made a twist to their own. Such as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, a Palace from Nebuchadrezzer II; became one of the wonders of the ancient world not just of the size and beauty, but the way of the design; probably was meant for a place for superiority and holy. However, the invasion of the Persians cause the Neo-Babylonian Empire to fall and was the last empire to ruled in Ancient Mesopotamia.
Besides the time that empire ruled the lands of Ancient Mesopotamia, many sources was left to be discovered from other civilizations and learn on how these civilizations accomplish their achievements on laws, mathematics, astronomy, and the architecture. on present day, people can see the ruins of Babylon that was caused by the Persians from their invasion and eventually their own fall. What I liked about the video was the design of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon from the Neo-Babylonian Empire, because I believed that the structure meant for them holy and grabs the attention from other civilizations to become like them. Therefore, I would like to explore the existences of what it use to be the first creative civilizations of the world.
