Flower Shoot // Lighting Direction

This photo was taken during our in-class shoot. Our group didn’t get to use the softbox focusing grid, so instead we used a continuous lighting. The lighting direction used during this particular shot was side light. Also, because our subject was too dark we had to increase the ISO to 800. I like this photo because of the great contrast between the subject and the dark background, that the subject is centered, and that this shot captured the entire subject. The entire subject being the two bloomed and unbloomed lilies, as well as, the stem and leaves. The contrast allows the yellow lilies to stand out and the colors to pop. Overall, I thought this was a beautiful, well-composed shot.
