My design team course was tasked by the school to participate in a design competition at City Tech as part of contest, where a class of 50 students were asked to create two covers, one for the 86th Commencement and the Academic Excellence Awards. The central theme of my designs is life transitions through growth, symbolizing academic progress and personal transformation. I am honored to share that both my 86th Commencement and Academic Excellence Awards Covers were selected as the winning designs to represent New York City College Of Technology’s graduating class of 2026!

This cover was created to celebrate the graduating class and the limitless potential that comes with reaching this milestone. The concept, “the galaxy is your limit,” was inspired by the idea that graduation is not an end, but rather the beginning of a new journey filled with endless opportunities.
The star filled sky symbolizes dreams, ambition, and the unknown possibilities that await each graduate. Stars have long represented guidance and hope, and in this piece they serve as a reminder that every individual’s path is unique. The skyline grounds the composition in the community and environment that helped shape us throughout our educational journey. It represents growth, perseverance, and the foundation from which graduates can pursue their aspirations.
In designing this cover, I wanted to create a sense of wonder and optimism. My goal was to honor the hard work and dedication of the graduating class while encouraging them to embrace the future with confidence and curiosity. Seeing this design printed and shared among fellow graduates was especially meaningful because it transformed a personal creative vision into a collective symbol of achievement and possibility.

This art piece is a mock up of a book cover design created for my illustration class. The theme is based on Little Red Riding Hood, and the assignment was to select a childhood classic story and reimagine its cover art.
