Communications Workshop

Here in Communications Workshop, I learned how communicative design and methods date back centuries. There are many styles and characteristics of type, formatting, printing and color, that portray both deep and clever backstories or meanings to the times and culture.

I traveled through new dimensions of how a person thinks when crafting or branding to communicate without speaking or even using words in some instances. I have learned the basics of print, color and paper, and was able to make my own mark on creating a brand for myself. I have to admit that it was quite difficult steering in many directions to make one solid product for myself and the way I want people to see me. I was made aware to think with one foot out and one foot in the box, but still have room to improve. With trial comes tribulation, but with patience and vigor comes content and accomplishment.

Fabrications

Over the semesters that I’ve spent at the New York City College of Technology, I have had a strong desire to dive head first into art. I love the time I spend in my art and design classes; Foundation Drawing, Graphic Design and Raster/ Vector Design. They allow me to see what it feels like to literally play around with my creativity. I get to experience the digital world, while also crafting something physical. I love having the freedom to get my hands dirty with conte, charcoal, paint, markers, pens, pencils, and other physical tools, while on the other hand clicking around, warping, rotating, coloring, filling, cutting or inverting a picture or image.

Personal Attributions

Hi! My name is Mijori Goodwin, but you can call me Mijo-jo. I love art in general. Art is everywhere and in everything to me, no matter the type or the size. It could be in the arches of the Eiffel Tower, the color in the trees during autumn, the way someone dances, walks, or laughs. Art is the basis of life. It is how we express ourselves as human beings. Whether it is writing, drawing, singing or molding, it is what we know- what we do on a daily basis. In my art, I express just that. Life. I tend to take things from my personal journey– my trips to and from school, gatherings with my family, my emotions and incorporate them into how I express myself. With these designs and works of art, it tells the viewer who I am as a person.

Welcome!

Hello fellow wanderer!

Welcome to Ambiguously Fabricating! Delving into my blog, you’ll be able to see the past works as well as the present and in progress pieces of my craft from my forever growing knowledge and ideas.

I love what I do. I love the hands-on experiences that I have the pleasure of taking on as a sophmore at the New York City College of Technology. At City Tech, I’m able to learn new things as well as peer into aspects of things that I was already aware of, becoming more grounded in my techniques. Starting, I was able to get my hands dirty and build a wider range of abilities. In my field I am allowed to spill out all of my creativity, regardless of boundaries and be free to dabble in leaving behind some symbolism and/or mystery in each piece.

Wether tedious or simple, the finishing product is always an adventure in itself. I am able to leave strokes on blank bristols, sketch papers, books and screens to represent footprints that have gotten me this far and hopefully further.

Walk in my footprints and follow me!
