I’m from Brooklyn New York, studying communication design at city tech. My interests are sports and music. Someone who inspires me is Donald Glover, because he’s a talented individual and takes on different forms of performing arts. My goal is to able to afford a comfortable home in NY.

Introduction to Video

This course is an introduction to the basic components and practices of pre-production, production and post production methodologies for content creation in commercial video and film. Students will learn the basics of all stages of production for content creation. The course will explore modes of communication such as commercials, public service announcements, fictive works, documentary and journalism. Students will analyze the fundamental principles of film and television communications with emphasis on examining the interaction of design and technology. Post-Production exercises with software such as Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects will be an integral part of the course. These assignments demonstrate proficiency in pre-production and production of content for film and video.   This digital filmmaking class introduces the basic components and practices of pre-production and production for content creation in commercial video. Students script, storyboard, light, shoot, and edit short videos including interviews, commercials, narratives, and public service announcements in order to convey ideas to a target audience.

As online media dominates global communications, strong web design skills are valuable assets for any communications designer. This class establishes a solid foundation in essential web design techniques, covering the Document Object Model, contemporary web standards (HTML5 and CSS3), coding workflow, and site management/administration. Over the course of the semester, students will use new techniques to improve and add features to a series of iterative projects, culminating with a personal portfolio website.

This course introduces students to core concepts in the graphic communications field, including typography, color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats, and substrates. During the semester, students will complete three pages of their own ePortfolio website. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the graphic communications field, as well as discuss current practices and future trends.

COMD2300 Communication Design 1 FA2023

This is a foundation course in advertising and graphic design. 3 credits: 6 hrs (1 class 5 lab hrs). Pre-requisites: COMD 1162, COMD 1200, COMD 2327, CDMG 2330 This is a basic course in advertising and graphic design that aims to challenge students to use both foundational skills and conceptual thinking to create innovative solutions. Through this course, students will learn how to communicate their ideas visually through art direction and verbally through copywriting. The coursework consists of project-based assignments that will take students from the initial concept to digital output. In the process, students will need to consider the target audience, product, and marketing objectives. The importance of professional execution, conceptual thinking, and presentation of ideas will also be emphasized. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to collaborate in teams during the design and development process.
