MTEC 1001-D100, Game Design & Interactive Media Skills Lab, Spring 2023

This lab-based course offers supportive instruction and training for digital media design and content delivery using a variety of software programs and platforms. Topics covered include but are not limited to raster graphics, vector graphics, 3D modeling, digital audio, and digital video production and editing. The class offers comprehensive theoretical and practical instruction of the tools and techniques for digital imaging, graphics, video, sound, and interactive design. Specifically, students will be introduced to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, WordPress, Audacity, Audition, Premiere, and Unity. In addition, workshops have been designed to foster a culture of collaboration and sustainable learning community.

MTEC1101-HD88 – Emerging Media Foundations – Spring 2023

This course is an introduction to emerging, interactive multi-media technology with a focus on interdisciplinary, project-based, cooperative learning. Students will be immersed in the protocols and processes of emerging and interactive media design, including: idea development, research, documentation, presentation, prototyping, and production, which will serve them in the face of rapid changes in technology. Students will explore basic theoretical and applied concepts of audio, visual, haptic, immersive, sensory and interaction design through creative group projects, visiting professionals, field trips and online documentation of their work.

MTEC 1001 – Game Design and Media SkillsSpring 2023

An introduction to the study and analysis of emerging technologies and how this relates to and informs practical process. Students will examine how technologies have evolved historically and develop perspectives on how they would best be used in the future. Major topics will include media and computing history, human-computer interaction, computers and culture, and the ethical and social implications of new technologies. Conceptual frameworks in the field of New Media and Studies of Emerging Technology will be explored through a series of readings, which include articles, books and essays that explore technology and its broader implications on society, ethics and cultural production. Through the application of close reads, critical analysis and discussions students will write and create multimodule projects about contemporary issues surfacing around emerging technology and how they apply to their own media production and consumption. This class will function as an incubator, which nurtures discussion, multiple forms of writing and the sharing of ideas.

Cuny Drone League. Build and fabricate, explore and expand knowledge, race and review, and develop avenues to expand upon the up and coming sport of Drone Racing. CDL is student run and will establish meetings based on membership, provide services and help trouble shooting, along with the establishing (FAA) licensed drone pilots.

The Citytech E-Sports club is a community that bring students together who have an interest in competitive gaming and gaming in general. The club aims to build a community where students can socialize, compete and express their passion for gaming and the competitive side to it. Members will be in a friendly environment where games are brought to a competitive level, being able to learn from each other, sharing strategies and developing new knowledge. The club also seeks to be able to compete at collegiate competitions at a national level. Other plans include hosting local prized gaming tournaments in the school itself.
