Travis Powell was born in Brooklyn, New York. He joined the Army National Guard in October of 2000. He then joined the US Army in March of 2006 where he attended BCT (Basic Combat Training) at Fort Jackson, SC and then attended AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Fort Gordon, GA to be an Air Traffic Control Equipment Repairer.

During his career, SPC Travis Powell served as a Platoon First Sergeant, Section Leader, Squad Leader, Financial Technician and Military Police Officer. He participated in New Dawn.

SPC Travis Powell has been assigned to the following units: Bravo Company 161ST Basic Combat Training Battalion Fort Jackson, SC, Bravo Company 73rd Ordnance Battalion Fort Gordon, GA, Alpha Company 369th Adjunct General Battalion Fort Jackson, SC 4th Financial Management Support Unit, 15th Sustainment Brigade Fort Bliss, TX and is currently assigned to 276th Military Police Company, 372nd Military Police Battalion Washington, DC.

SPC Travis Powell military and civilian education includes the US Army Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training for Air Traffic Control Equipment Repair, Financial Technician & Military Police, US Army Airborne School, Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2), Army Combat Lifesaver, Structured Self Development Course 1, US Army Chaplains Assistance Course, Warriors Leaders Course and is currently pursuing a degree in Communication Design at the New York City College of Technology.

This course introduces students to core concepts in the media field including color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. During the semester, students will complete three pages of their own ePortfolio web site, complete a print design project and one video project. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the media field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.

This drawing course introduces basic concepts, tools, techniques and the role of drawing in design, illustration, animation and games. The course will also cover projection systems, plans, elevations, sections, oblique, isometric, one-point perspective and two-point perspective views.
